The base shown above follows that philosophy with a compact diamond-style core, layered compartments, decentralized resource storage, and heavy defensive coverage around the Town Hall.
Why This TH18 Hybrid Farming Base Works
The most important feature of this design is its compartment structure.
Instead of putting every high-value defense and storage inside one giant box, the layout creates multiple smaller sections. This makes it harder for an attacker to gain value from a single entry point.
The central area is especially dense, which helps protect the Town Hall and major defensive assets. Around it, the builder has created several independent compartments that force attacking troops to move through walls rather than simply walking directly into the core.
For farming, this is important because a good hybrid layout does not necessarily need to prevent every star. Its objective is to make the attack expensive and inefficient, while keeping a large portion of your Gold, Elixir and Dark Elixir protected.
1. Centralize the Highest-Value Defenses
The core of this TH18 base is intentionally crowded with important defensive structures.
This gives the layout two major advantages:
First, attackers cannot easily pick off multiple high-value defenses from outside the walls.
Second, troops entering the core have to survive several layers of defensive fire instead of reaching the Town Hall immediately.
Town Hall 18 introduced several powerful defensive mechanics, including the Revenge Tower, Super Wizard Tower and defending Guardians. Guardians are particularly important because TH18 allows one Guardian to actively defend the Home Village at a time.
For a hybrid farming base, the practical lesson is simple: make the center dangerous, but do not make it so compact that one spell sequence gives the attacker everything at once.
2. Split Your Storages Instead of Stacking Them
One of the strongest farming principles visible in this design is the distribution of resource buildings.
Avoid placing all of your important storages in the same compartment.
A player looking for loot wants to maximize resource value per troop and per spell. When storages are separated, an attacker may have to commit additional troops or abilities simply to reach the next resource pocket.
That makes the base much more effective against casual farming attacks.
The outer compartments also act as time-wasting zones. Even when an attacker gets through one section, they still need to travel before reaching another group of valuable buildings.
3. Use the Diamond Shape to Create Awkward Pathing
The diamond orientation is more than a visual choice.
Diagonal wall placement creates unusual troop movement compared with a conventional square box base. This can make funnels less predictable and increases the chance that troops split when they enter the base.
For ground attacks, this can force troops away from the ideal route toward the core.
For air attacks, the arrangement helps create multiple defensive layers rather than allowing a direct line toward the center.
That matters even more in the current TH18 environment because Supercell specifically identified Dragon Duke + Dragon Rider armies as one of the most common TH18-vs-TH18 strategies, accounting for roughly 20% of observed attacks. Throwers supported by Healers were another major archetype, with those two broad army types representing around 40% of attacks in the data discussed by Supercell.
4. Build Against the August 2026 Meta
The July balance update reduced the power of Dragon Duke and Dragon Rider strategies while also giving Electro Dragons and Meteor Golem improvements. Supercell's stated goal was to reduce concentration around a small number of dominant strategies and create more room for alternative attacks.
That means a good TH18 farming base should not be designed exclusively to counter Dragons.
This layout instead uses layered defenses so it can deal with multiple attack styles.
The priority should be:
Air-path disruption → hero funnel disruption → core protection → resource protection.
That is a much safer long-term approach than creating a one-dimensional anti-Dragon base.
5. August 2026 Crafted Defense: What Should You Use?
The biggest seasonal consideration for this design is the current Crafted Defense phase.
Beginning August 1, the active Crafted Defense choices are:
- Cake-A-Pult
- Hero Hunter
- Hot Candle
The August season made these defenses available from TH11 upward as part of the new crafting phase.
For a TH18 hybrid farming base, my preferred option is Hot Candle as the general-purpose defensive choice because it can attack both ground and air units while handling multiple targets.
Hero Hunter is an excellent alternative when you expect attacks that depend heavily on attacking Heroes.
Cake-A-Pult is more attractive when you specifically want additional ground splash pressure.
Because Crafted Defenses are modular and can be switched between available options during the active phase, you should treat them as a seasonal base-building tool, not a permanent decision.
6. Take Advantage of the Latest TH18 Changes
The August 30, 2026 update added new TH18 Pet levels for Pangolin, levels 11–15, along with new Supercharge levels for the Builder's Hut and Monolith.
For base builders, this reinforces an important principle: your strongest defenses should remain protected rather than exposed on the outside simply to create a pretty perimeter.
The Monolith in particular deserves strong internal protection because an attacker gaining early access to it can dramatically improve the value of an entry.
The August update did not replace the current Crafted Defense season, so the Cake-A-Pult, Hero Hunter and Hot Candle remain the relevant August defensive choices.
7. Best Farming Strategy for This Layout
This base is best suited to players who want a balance between resource protection and defensive performance rather than a pure loot-only farming village.
The key is to keep resource buildings separated while maintaining a strong defensive core.
A successful hybrid farming layout should make an attacker think:
“I can get inside, but getting everything will cost too much.”
That is exactly the type of defensive friction this design is trying to create.

This TH18 hybrid farming base is a strong template for August 2026 because it combines resource protection with anti-meta defensive principles.
Its biggest strengths are the layered diamond compartments, centralized defensive core, spread-out resource buildings, difficult troop pathing, and flexibility of the current Crafted Defense system.
For August 2026, I would prioritize Hot Candle for general farming, while testing Hero Hunter when Hero-centric attacks become more common in your matchmaking pool.
