TH18 Pro Base by Einstonius from the September Monthly Finals

Einstonius’ TH18 layout is built around broad compartments and long diagonal wall structures.

The screenshot shows a village where the attacker is given plenty of visible space, but the route from the outside toward the Town Hall is broken into several stages.

This is an interesting approach to TH18 base building because the layout does not need to completely deny entry. Instead, it can attempt to make each successful step toward the core consume time, troops, or spell value.

Base Overview

The overall village has a broad, almost diamond-shaped structure.

Long wall lines connect different defensive sections across the map, while smaller compartments protect the central region.

The Town Hall sits inside this broader structure and is surrounded by additional defensive layers.

The upper-left section appears more spacious, while some right-side and lower areas are considerably denser.

That gives the base several different entry identities.

Core and Town Hall Analysis

The Town Hall is protected by several layers of surrounding structures.

An attacker can break into the outer sections without immediately gaining direct access to the Town Hall.

The core contains a number of valuable defenses positioned close enough to create significant pressure once troops arrive.

For a Queen Charge, the main challenge is target control.

The Queen may gain access to an outer compartment and remove important defenses, but the next target may not be the one that leads her toward the Town Hall.

For a ground army, the central wall transitions create a similar problem.

Compartment and Pathing Analysis

The long diagonal walls are one of the strongest visual elements of the design.

They create large corridors and pockets where troops can move through a section without immediately reaching another major target.

This is useful defensively because time matters.

A troop group that spends several seconds walking between buildings continues taking damage from defenses covering the surrounding compartment.

The different sizes of compartments also change attack timing. A force entering a compact compartment may reach its targets quickly, while another force traveling through a larger zone may take longer.

That can cause different parts of the attack to become desynchronized.

Defensive Layering

The defense is spread across different levels of the village.

Some defensive structures sit behind walls, while others provide coverage from neighboring compartments.

This creates overlapping defensive ranges.

An attacking army may therefore destroy one defense only to remain under fire from another structure positioned elsewhere.

The design can become especially difficult during the middle phase of the attack, when the attacker has already spent some spells and hero abilities but still has to cross another defensive layer.

Possible Attack Entry Points

Upper-Left

This side provides considerable room and could be useful for Queen Charge or siege-based operations.

The advantage is the flexibility to establish a funnel.

The disadvantage is that the route toward the Town Hall is not necessarily short.

Upper-Right

The upper-right section is more compact and provides quicker access to defensive value.

However, the increased defensive density makes early mistakes more expensive.

Right

The right side contains concentrated defensive pockets.

A ground army may gain significant value from a successful push here, but it can also encounter heavy defensive pressure immediately.

Bottom

The lower route can lead toward the central area.

The difficulty is that moving directly toward the core also means entering one of the most heavily protected sections of the base.

Trap and Surprise Potential

Exact hidden traps cannot be identified reliably from the screenshot.

The layout does contain several natural areas with strong surprise potential, especially narrow entrances between compartments and spaces immediately before dense defensive clusters.

These are locations where attackers are more likely to commit troops confidently because the route appears efficient.

Meta TH18 Analysis

Dragon and Dragon Rider attacks bypass the majority of the wall structure, so the main defensive question against air attacks is how effectively the anti-air defenses cover the route toward the core.

For ground attacks, the wall structure becomes much more significant.

Root Riders can bypass the walls, but supporting troops can still experience pathing differences as they move through the defensive network.

Thrower and Healer-based attacks may also be affected by the broad compartments. These armies rely on maintaining a coordinated support group, and wide routes can potentially make that more difficult.

Super Bowler and Electro Titan attacks may seek the denser compartments where their area damage can affect several targets.

A siege machine can potentially exploit the more open areas to remove external defenses before the main army enters.

Potential Weaknesses

The large open areas can be used as staging zones.

A ranged attacker may have opportunities to remove external buildings before committing the main force.

The dense defensive clusters can also create strong spell value.

If several high-value defenses become active in one area at the same time, the attacker may be able to protect a large portion of the army with carefully timed spells.

A Queen Charge could potentially exploit one of the larger compartments if the attacker can control her route and keep her from being redirected outward.

Who Should Use This Base?

This layout is useful for competitive players, CWL players, and war players who want to study broad TH18 compartment design.

It is particularly valuable for players who want to understand how open space can be used for defensive purposes instead of simply being treated as empty ground.

Final Verdict

Einstonius’ TH18 base demonstrates the concept of layered depth.

The attacker can enter the village, but every successful step can lead to another decision about pathing, spell usage, and troop support.

The key lesson is that a large compartment does not automatically weaken a base. When the compartment changes troop movement or delays access to the next valuable target, the open space itself becomes part of the defensive design.
